ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
In order to create a royal worthy sleeping experience, we make our products from the most luxurious fabrics on the market. We weave our sheet with leading fabric mills in Portugal, where the collective wisdom of centuries is combined with cutting-edge technology.
From seed to finished product, the process starts with sourcing the best Egyptian cotton and French Linen fibres. We mill and weave the fibers with and then send the fabric to our dyeing & finishing house, where it is coloured & finished using state-of-the-art equipment. Our European partners have generations of knowledge about how to create the best darn sheet available. Many of our partners are small- to medium-size family-run companies, enabling us to foster transparency and collaboration across our supply chain. How refreshing.
There’s a lot of sheet out there, but unfortunately, it’s not all good sheet. Thread count is simply the industry’s standard measurement of the number of vertical and horizontal threads contained within one square inch of fabric. Thread count isn’t necessarily an accurate indicator of good sheet, nor it doesn’t ensure that you’re purchasing the safest or softest option.
Our Sateen weave has a 00-thread count. It’s a smooth as a baby royal’s highness with a slightly luminous finish. This is a silky, ultra luxe look and a divine sleeping experience. Both collections will get softer and more delicious with every use and wash.
Thread count is a refers to the number of threads per square inch. It's a measurement to determine the density of fabric.
Myths and legends:
The old-school bedding industry created a story that the higher the count, the better the sheet. But it's predominantly a myth. A very high thread count generally means a sheet is dense, less breathable, and often more expensive. But buyers beware – it does not necessarily equate to higher quality.
But how could this be so? Companies can do creative things to boost their numbers, either by double-counting threads or stuffing fibers through the weave until it's jam-packed. The perception is that the denser the flasher, but it doesn’t always make for a great sleep experience.
We use extra-long, single ply fibers, so each thread count is legit and makes our sheets as soft as a royal babies highness!
Unlike many sheet brands, we avoid any artificial wrinkle-free chemicals like it was a fly in our soup.
Like any 100% cotton products, raisins, or faces, your sheets will naturally wrinkle. However, rest assured your sheets will wrinkle less and less with every wash. We recommend hang drying your sheets to prevent significant wrinkling. If you prefer to use a dryer, we suggest taking your sheets out of the dryer 5 minutes before the cycle ends and hanging them to finish off.
Yes! All of our products are OEKO-TEX certified which means it’s free of nasty chemicals and substances. OEKO-TEX tests for harmful substances which are prohibited, or regulated by law, and chemicals which are known to be harmful to our precious health.
Both our Percale and Sateen fabrics are made using the same, flashiest, long-staple Egyptian cotton – the only difference between these fabrics are in how they’re woven. Linen is produced from a different plant variety, so comes with it’s own distinct characteristics.
Our Percale
Cool and crisp to the touch, we like to think of it as the perfect button down shirt. Great for the hot sleepers (don’t sweat it, you’re all hot in your own way), it’s super breathable and will get softer with continued use.
Our Percale fabric goes through a stonewashed process to give it a soft texture and a more smart-casual appearance (A bit like wearing your boyfriend’s shirt when you nip off to the privy in the morning - sure, it’s practical, but really, you still want to look effortlessly awesome). Although many brands use synthetic finishes to expedite this finish, we think that’s cheating and it’s not great for the sheets or people, so we don’t.
Our Sateen
Ridiculously soft and smooth, our sateen is lustrous, elegant and the more classically luxurious of our cotton fabrics. Sateen is also naturally more wrinkle resistant – bonus points!
We call it a ‘matte Sateen’, as it doesn't have the overly shiny appearance typically associated with satin. We dig it – it’s a super classy finish, baring no resemblance to a 70’s ‘exotic film’ set.
Our Linen
As a fiber made from the flax plant, linen is a stronger and more durable alternative to cotton. The fabric is garment dyed and washed to relax the fibers, resulting in a deliciously soft and supply fabric. Point of fact, the more linen bedding is slept in, lived in and washed, the softer and more beautiful it becomes!
Light and airy, Linen is perfect for balmy climates and those seeking a stylish yet casual look. Linen sheets are a dream to sleep in year round; they’re light and more breathable than cotton in summer, but keep you cozy and warm in winter. Linen bedding is also super hard wearing and can literally last for decades if cared for properly. Try it...you'll be as obsessed as we are.
As part of this vision, we are excited to offer divisions of our product range certified under the OEKO-TEX® standard. For more info on our sustainability efforts, click here.
You can view our size charts here for more detailed sizing information.
All of our fitted sheets fit mattresses up to 18" (45.7cm) in depth.
Effort in – reward out! If you’d like to keep your linen in the lifestyle you which you are accustomed, be sure to follow the instructions found on the care labels & linen bag sent with your Kings & Queens product. For all machine-washable fine linens, use only a mild liquid detergent free of added bleach, optical brighteners, whiteners, or fabric softeners as these additives can weaken the fibers. For detailed care instructions, read our care guide.
To right we do! We provide free swatches for customers who are looking to match their linen to a room palette, or who simply want to feel the Kings & Queens difference. Email us at hello@kingsandqueenshome.com with your request.

CARE GUIDE
Percale, Sateen & Linen Fabrics
Most certainly do -
Machine wash on a cool setting (temperature, not disposition), using a mild, liquid detergent.
Wash similar items together – going matchy-matchy on colour and fabric is best for maintaining the condition of your sheet.
If you’re going to tumble dry, do so on a low setting. Don’t dawdle on removing the sheets when dry.
Don’t even think about it -
Never use fabric softeners or powdered detergent – weird huh?! Yep, it’s not good for the fabric.
Don’t wash your bedding with clothing – zippers, hooks, etc. can tear the sheet out of your stuff.
Avoid products containing benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxyl acids and chlorine bleach. Requires label reading (dull!), but the results are worth it.
General Care
Should I wash my sheets when they arrive?
Not only do they look flash when they arrive but they’re also good to go. Our sheets will be just the right balance of crisp and soft from the very first sleep, but we purposely made our sheets on the bigger side in order to account for a two percent shrink factor (better than the industry standard). You can give them a quick wash to ensure the best fit on your bed, but if you are keen to get horizontal, they’re safe to sleep on now.
Air drying is definitely best for the longevity of products, but can sometimes give you a crispy feeling, like you’ve spent too long in the sun without block. If you plan to air dry, 10-12 minutes on medium heat in the dryer before you hang them out to dry helps to re-orient the fibers after washing and leaves a soft finish on the surface of the fabric. Alternatively – you can finish them off in the dryer post-line hanging.
Here’s a great how-to guide:
When drying in the dryer, avoid overloading the machine. Drying items in smaller loads makes for a more even dry.
Tumble dry for no longer than 20 minutes on the low or medium heat setting. Try your darndest to not over-dry your items as these will weaken their fibers and potentially cause them to deteriorate.
Remove the items from the dryer while they are still slightly damp. Spread them out neatly on the bed or hang them over a railing or shower curtain rod to finish air-drying. Gravity will do the work of eliminating nearly all wrinkles. The cool, gentle flutter of a ceiling fan is also great for caressing your sheets to perfection at the final stage of drying.
Avoid drying in direct sun, they like vampires and don’t like it, and sunblock is terrible for your sheets.
Check your item is completely dry before storing in your linen filing bag (received free with purchase) to prevent any dampness, mildew and weird, stinky, sock-like smells.
Absolutely you can iron your sheets! There’s no nasty anti-wrinkle chemicals in our sheets, so iron at your prerogative and sleep easy. Our strong percale weave will stay crisp (yet soft) wash after wash if you can’t be bothered getting the iron out. But if you do choose to iron your item, we recommend that you stick with a warm setting and iron on the reverse side if there is a print or design on the item.
Yes. Kings & Queens bedlinen are happy to be dropped off at your friendly dry-cleaners to get the job done.
With most sheets, putting a quilt or duvet in its cover or folding a fitted sheet is a pain in the royal toosh. However, we’ve mininised the pain factor by arming you with crisp seams and labels indicating the shorter end of the sheet. This makes navigating the silky terrain that much easier. Here’s a step-by-step process for folding your sheets:
1. Lay the sheet flat on a large surface with the elastic facing up and fold in half.
2. Fold sheet in half.
3. Fold the sheet into thirds, forming a long rectangle.
4. Fold the sheet into thirds to form a square.
5. File in your K&Q linen bag, for easy of reference6. Spend all that extra time snoozing.
We’ve made it classy and simple! Grab our handy linen filing bag (supplied with purchase) to help store and find your stuff without losing your sheet. Make sure you fold each item flat (not scrunched up in a ball), and store them in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
For long-term storage, avoid stashing them in plastic bags and boxes, as natural fibers need to breathe. Make sure stored linens are not exposed to direct sunlight, as this can cause permanent yellowing, and that just ain’t right.
